Ruparsor Bathing Ghat is located within Syndai village (50 km from Jowai) on the Jowai-Muktapur-Dawki road. It consists of a beautiful bathing pool hewn out of granite, which forms the bed of Rupasor stream. The replica of an elephant has been carved on the right wall of the pool, which serves as platform . There are two huge rocks bearing the designs of the sun and moon. Tradition has it that U Mar Phalangki and U Luh Lyngskor Lamare created this pool under the direction of the Jaintia king. The pool is nineteen and a half ft in length and fifteen ft in breadth and the replica of an elephant was carved out of the same rock. The kings and their families of North East India are said to visit this ghat before performing their cultural and religious rites and ceremonies. Jaintia kings had two capitals Nartiang in summer and Jaintiapur in winter. While travelling they used to take bath here. It is also called a regal ghat since the Khasi and East Jainti era kings used to dominate over the ownership of the Ghat, as is evident from the inscriptions on the ghat and steps of the lake. Nice art of the ancient Jaintia kingdom can be seen in form of sculptures.
